The Codices, part 2

Codex Runicus; c. 1300

I began discussing the Codex series in this blog post.   When I wrote it, I had completed material for five Codex albums.

At the time I wrote that blog post, I had thought I was taking a pause on writing/recording material for the Codex series.  I have several other solo projects in the works; not to mention other duo and trio and quartet recording projects.  However, taking a pause on this series was not to be; at least not now.   Over the past two weeks, I've had three more recording sessions for the Codex series.  I now have completed material for the first seven Codex albums, and have started on the eighth.

All the compositions for the Codex series are connected and related.  As such, each new piece seems to spawn from the piece that preceded it; as if the central tree is continually popping up new sprouts and growths.  Additionally, it seems that each new piece is an extension of its predecessor.  I've never worked on a project like this.

I suspect that it's still not yet time to take a pause on the Codex recording sessions.  I wonder if it ever will.  Or even if that decision is mine to make.

No doubt there will be more to come.
