Early mornings in the studio

 

For many years, my solo recording sessions were held late at night.  That always felt right to me.  I was, by nature, always a late-night person.  Additionally, I thought that recording late at night brought an additional ineffable element to the music.

Over the past year, this seems to be changing.   During the summer of 2025, I had multiple solo recording sessions; all between 4 AM and 7 AM.  I'm not sure what changes within me transpired for this preference for early morning sessions.  But, I like it.  

I'm also wondering if compositions recorded at 4 AM have an additional depth or hidden meaning due to the hour and its impact and influence.  I don't know, but I can say that the early morning recording schedules will continue.
