Anthony Braxton

 

I've been a fan of Anthony Braxton for many years.  Mr. Braxton is a completely original musician, composer, and author.  I have a deep respect for his work in all its many directions.

Of late, I've been listening to "The Complete Arista Recordings."  This is an 8-CD boxed set of Mr. Braxton's recorded output when he was signed to Arista Records in the 1970s.  The breadth and scope of this set is vast, including material for solo alto saxophone, jazz duos and quartets, orchestral compositions, and others.  You can read more about it here.

Whenever I listen to his work, I usually feel as if I've learned something.
