The 28, part 6
In this blog post from last month, I discussed the latest string/tuning setup on the 26-string Double Subcontraguitar. In that post, I mentioned the as-yet untried option of a 28-string scenario wherein the first two triple courses on the octaves tuning side (the right neck) were tuned to diapason/octave/octave.
I've tried other triple-course tunings on this instrument, but not that one.
Yesterday, I again changed the string/tuning configuration on this instrument. I converted the first two courses on the 26 back to triple courses, and tuned both in diapason/octave/octave. As expected, it's quite sonorous.
I'm not sure how I feel about it. I do like it. I'll need to live with it a while and see where it goes. I will be trying it an upcoming recording session. Doing so will reveal more.
No doubt there will be more to come.
