One week = nine compositions

Gustav Mahler: Symphony No. 10 (autograph score; 1910) |
Last week was an interesting one. I wrote nine new pieces. I hadn't intended to write any. The new pieces were all for the 26-string Double Contraguitar, utilizing a couple of different intervalic tunings for it.
These new works are all solo pieces. Not sure when or if they'll all be recorded, but certainly some from this batch will be recorded. At least one is tagged for a current solo project. It's likely I'll use more than one from this batch.
At times, I wish I had more control over the writing process. It certainly has a life of its own in that new pieces appear seemingly at random, but with a certain ongoing frequency. Many times I'll sit down to practice, and it quickly turns into a writing session. But not by my decision.
Alternatively, if I want to write or need to write, I can do that. I can decide when to write. So I suppose I do have some control over it. However, it seems that there are times wherein the writing decides it's time to write. For example, in 2024, I wrote over 60 new pieces.
I'm not complaining. Merely attempting to better understand it all.
