I dreamed of invisible journeys
Recording sessions for I dreamed of invisible journeys took place over two days: one day in 2015, and one day in 2016. It doesn't seem like seven years since it was recorded. In the interim, Mark and I have recorded and released other albums together. Why has this one sat in the vaults unreleased for so many years? I am not sure there is a single reason. Sometimes recordings can take years to release, and sometimes the album is released in less than a year after the recording sessions. At least two other albums by Mark and I have been released since I dreamed of invisible journeys was recorded. I suspect that we wanted to push the newer material out first, and this one was left behind. However, that is not an indicator of anything about this album. Mark recently stated that he was very excited about this release and is especially happy about the material on this record. I agree with Mark; I feel that this is a very strong album and I'm happy to see that it's getting released.
That said, Mark and I are currently at work on our next two albums.
My instrument palette on this record was a bit more limited than usual; on it I am playing 36-string Double Contraguitar and 15-string Extended Classical guitar. The 36 is my main instrument, and the 15 provides an almost lute-like voice. The 15 stands in sharp contrast to the 36 and together they bring a good balance and counterpoint to my parts. Mark is playing his usual electric guitar, but with some new (at the time of recording) processing. It was recorded at Studio Traumwald in Groton, Massachusetts, and mixed at Heron Island in England.
Many thanks to Laszlo Hutton (Budapest) for the cover art.
